Success Teams

A process, facilitated by a counselor of Basil Rouskas Associates, Inc., which builds accountability and achievement of goals through teamwork.

The goal of Success Team is to pull everyone together to ensure each member reaches his or her personal goal(s).

Ground Rules:

Commit to concrete actions for each session.
Pledge to confidentiality.
Offer ideas but there is no obligation unless the person wants to commit.
Agree on being concrete, specific and time limited in communication. No monopolizing of the meeting.
Agree on taking turns for keeping minutes.
Honor your commitment about attendance.

Success Team Process:

  1. Assemble five to seven people who are facing certain challenges and are interested in developing a Success Team; people who will be enthusiastic, committed teammates.
  2. Provide a meeting place affording privacy and lack of distractions.
  3. Commit to six weekly sessions lasting one and a half to two hours.
  4. Participate in icebreaking/team building/bonding exercise.
  5. Exchange résumé information.
  6. Compose three possible answers to: What do you want to do? What's preventing you?
  7. Get help from teammates to set a target -- a tangible version of the goal that can be achieved strategically by a specific date.
  8. Report on activities, creating accountability.
  9. Commit to specific activities which will be reported at next meeting.
  10. Exchange results of the "journey" and closure exercise.
