In this program, participants learn that conflict is a normal part of existence and that each of us has the power to prevent conflict from being negative. There are some very popular, but equally ineffective approaches to conflict resolution which people are in the habit of using. These ineffectual approaches are described and illustrated, and participants are shown that the approach which has been comfortable for them in the past is not necessarily the most effective. Eight steps to effective conflict management are explained and participants role-play various case studies to illustrate the application of the concepts to the workplace situation.
BENEFITS
Participants will learn that the typical ways in which people deal with conflict are not
the most effective ways. They will learn new approaches and have the opportunity to
apply and practice specific skills. Managing conflict is a skill which is becoming
more and more essential as organizations become flatter and work must be accomplished
through peer-to-peer relationships, often with diverse groups of people from different
disciplines.
