Supervisor

The Supervisor Candidate Development Program is a process designed for high achievers/contributors with potential to advance in the organization. The program incorporates one-on-one coaching, structured training and group interactivity.
Key Concepts
- Twelve individual coaching sessions over a period of three to four months
- Group dynamic through two sessions focusing on role-playing
- Voluntary participation and firm commitment, however, no guarantee of promotion
- On the job coaching adjusting to candidate's schedule
- Avoids triangulation of supervisor, candidate and coach
- Behavior driven – business (not psychological) coaching
- Targeted competencies owned by candidate, based on supervisor's input and connected to competencies valued by the business
- Specific events submitted for discussion prior to the coaching session
Selection Criteria
- Demonstrate supervisory potential
- Performance ratings in the top two tiers
- Possess a desire to be a supervisor

Steps in the Program
Step 1:
Pre-Contracting Meeting. Supervisor, company coordinator and coach meet to discuss the program and candidate's background/qualifications/areas for improvementStep 2: Supervisor gives a brief overview of the program to the candidate, verifies interest, advises candidate to prepare to describe current responsibilities, strengths and areas for improvement at contracting meeting
Step 3: Contracting meeting. Candidate, supervisor, company coordinator and coach meet to discuss the program, identify three areas for development, determine base line measurements and obtain commitment
Step 4: Twelve weekly coaching sessions over a period of three to four months. Candidate records situations on behavior log and discusses progress as well as challenges with the coach
Step 5: Midpoint meeting. Candidate and coach meet with the supervisor to assess progress
Step 6: Closing meeting. Candidate, supervisor, company coordinator and coach meet to discuss achievements and determine final evaluation
Step 7: Graduation. Ceremony/celebration/ presentation of certificates of completion
